Book 5 in the Voidhawk series.
The new Empress of the elves thought the only thing standing in the way of prosperity for the reunited Elven Empire were the scattered elven rebels that clung to their racist ways. Progress seemed slow but certain until an old enemy emerges from the past. Beset by potential foes from every angle and unsure of who they can trust, the crew of the Voidhawk is near the end of their luck. Outnumbered by beings beyond their power, even the greatest sacrifice may not be enough to keep the void safe and return what was lost.

Can't believe someone hasn't scooped up the rights to this book series, it could be developed into a very interesting feature length film if not several. As long as they stay close to the storyline that is. But enough about the series. Lost Soul expanded on the existing characters. You get to see sides of them that you never would have thought that you previously would have. Along with the emergence of new characters and old enemies this was a very good read. I can't tell you what to read and may not be as sophisticated as other readers out there, but I know what I enjoy. From the Iliad and oddessy to Stephen Kings collective works and all the classics. Now I can add Jason Halsteads works, like Lost Soul, to my library. You should read what you enjoy because you enjoy it. Not because I tell you too or anyone tells you not to. After it's all said and done I give this a five star rating because I like it and I enjoy the characters and story and for no other reason.Product details

Voidhawk Lost Soul eBook Jason Halstead Reviews
The action never left the story and I had really forgotten about the character that was the villain in this book. He dated all the way back to book 1. There's still 1 villain left that hasn't been dealt with yet in book 1. I'm looking forward to see where the next book goes.
It took me about three chapters of the first book to accept the Voidhawk universe. After that I fell for the whole shtick. You grow to like the characters, hope they get what they need as they grow into more complete and complex people. The plots are not esoteric but are satisfying. Halstead is growing as a writer, I'm looking forward to more of his writing.
In an effort to get this book to press apparently a human did not review the document, but relied solely on spell check. A typical instance would be a sentence like the following from chapter 1 "Unless you're a healer, no one steps foot in her until my wizard has a look." Common errors her for here, or visa versa,
The stories are always good; the spelling, sentence errors are a distraction.
After being away from the main characters for a couple books, this story returns us to the crew of the void hawk reunited. I loved this book, and It was one of my favorites of the series.
Jason Halstead is a very gifted writer, and got me reading a genre I probably would have never thought of reading before. If you are new to his works, start from the beginning of the Void Hawk series, and work your way to here, if your a returning fan, read it, enjoy it, spread the word.
ok when I started this series i did not know what to think. It did take a couple of chapters to get into the book but became a really fun read. a very unique way to look at both types of writing. The author blends the story very well and keeps you entertained nicely.
you have humans, dwarves, elves, magical constructs and more. With sailing ships in space it can get pretty wild. A good blend of magic and technology makes it work.
if a person is looking for a new twist in scy fy and fantasy adventure this could be the read for you.
This is a great read from a great author. Takes place immediately following The White Lady (which I found out by accident by reading this one first....oops. Nothing like reading a story out-of-sync. Doesn't matter, though, because each book is stand-alone.
Without giving anything away, this book fleshes out the characters, explains how each one developed to what he/she is now, and takes Dexter and Jenna to a whole new emotional level, and having been in a similar position myself, I had a hard time holding back the tears.
All in all, a great read.
Well done Jason.
And I'm reading The White Lady at present. Another review will follow.
I had never read anything by Jason Halstead until I saw Voidhawk on . It was free, I'm guessing in the hopes that the reader would like it and purchase more in the series. In my case, the tactic worked perfectly. Since buying and reading Voidhawk, I have purchased the entire series, and am busy enjoying may way through all of them. And I fully intend to sample (AND buy!) all of his other series. I had no idea he had written so many different full series.
As the subject reads, each of the books in this series has been better than the last. Jason has a wonderfully dry sense of humor that has made me laugh out loud on many occasions. His incredible imagination brings the universe of the Void to vivid life, filled with dwarves and elves and demons and good, swashbuckling fun!
